Is there a way to get this away? Do I have to lock my iPad? If so, how long for?
I’ve looked through my photos, I can’t find any duplicates, think it’s including the ones that were synced from my iPad 5? Though I deleted obvious duplicates and ones that’s not on my iPad 7?

Perhaps your best option is to connect your iPad to its Power Adapter - and allow the iPad to charge undisturbed, while locked and connected to WiFi, overnight.
This should provide sufficient opportunity for your iPad to complete its internal housekeeping. Unless you import a considerable number of additional photos to your Photo Library, this should be a one-time exercise.
