Found my old iPod shuffle 2nd generation. Orange light constantly blinking. Is it toast? Not sure what to do.

mine says restoration required and software is corrupted. i tried 'restoration' on mac by connecting it but its stuck on loading... when i turn it on it blinks all 3 lights once indicating the 'firmware damaged, must restore software' instruction as per manual given, but its stuck on loading... idk what to do now
It just keeps blinking! I’m sad bc I planned on using it for one of my students with Autism and downloading his calming music for his rough days next year. I may need a plan B.
