MP4 Files won't open

hi I just made the update to MAC OS Ventura 13.4 and now my Mac won't open certain MP4 files anymore. I need a solution.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.4

Why, all of a sudden, will MacOS preview / finder not play mp4 files? I've read other threads and none of them make sense to me. They're talking about codec issues and VLC being the answer; I couldn't disagree more. The mp4 files that are not playing for me were rendered on the same system. If my Mac can "encode" the mp4 it should be able to "decode" the file. This has been an issue for me for the last several months and I've not found any logical solutions. I've been rendering and playing mp4 files on this same Mac. Now, when you try to play (spacebar) the mp4 file from Finder, it opens the 1st frame of the video and that's it; none of the play, search, FF or RW buttons work. What's the problem?

MPEG-4 Not working in Ventura 13.4 update Hey Guys, I have recently updated my MacBook Pro M1 to Ventura 13.4 and now my MPEG-4 format files aren't work. They open in QuickTime but only display a black screen, they won't open with finder (Space Bar) and the are import to FCPX but also are blacked out. Any suggestions?

MacOS Sonoma will not play MP4 files I have a Mac Laptop. I was trying to play some old MP4 files that I have. It did not show the video and the noise came out garbled. I had just updated to OS Sonoma. I tested that by playing the same files on my MacMini that had not been updated. The filed played fine. Then I update my mac mini with OS Sonoma. The files no longer play. FYI, the app that is pulled is quicktime in all cases. Did OS sonoma somehow mess with Quicktime?

p.s. 10-bit 100-120 fps .mp4 macOS 13.4 fix might be just around the corner.
