Question

My computer is blocking outgoing FTP connections despite having the firewall turned off

What could be the reason behind my computer's inability to connect to FTP servers for the past few months, despite having disabled the firewall? I have also confirmed that my network settings, both on my computer and the router/switch, are correct. Interestingly, when I use another MacBook, I am able to connect to FTP servers without any issues.

I checked through the terminal and the FTP is blocked. Can I unblock my FTP port using the terminal?

I've tested mine and it's working fine in Ventura 13.4. Two places you might check is your router to see if it might be port forwarding or blocking FTP. Also check with your Internet Provider to insure they aren't blocking FTP protocol.

Do you have any other 3rd party utilities like VPN or Little Snitch? Those could possibly block it too.

Hi,

Thank you Randall but as I mentioned I have checked already for the network settings/port forwarding in my Network. Also I checked through the terminal and the FTP is blocked in my computer. That's why when connecting with another laptop it works.

I don't have Little Snitch or similar installed in my computer.
