Clip in Browser OK but in Timeline NOT OK!
I just dug out this old project and discovered that though the clip plays OK in the Browser, it appears as missing in the Timeline.

That's unusual.
There was a Brightness and Contrast filter applied. I deselected it and everything was OK.
As I wrote that last sentence a possible reason appeared. It may have been a third party filter that has since been deleted.
The problem was not the Brightness and Contrast filter but the one below it called Levels.
Levels is still with it in the Motion Templates>Brightness & Contrast etc. folder together with 3 others but only the Brightness & Contrast is showing up in the Effects Window.

Just to make sure: there is no text in the search box, is it?
Do you remember the source of those effects?
That’s the missing effect icon. Look in the inspector for one the clips and see what’s loaded there.

What password and how would that help?
This is an old question from May of last year that someone has resurrected.
This morning I received a notification that I had an Upvote on a September 2008 post!
