iCloud drive sharing with a password

I would like to be able to share something on iCloud Drive using the "anyone with a link" option, but require a password once they get to iCloud to see the content. Is there any way to do that?

Hi amp68,

Thank you for posting to the Apple Support Communities.

If you are sharing a document you created in Pages, you can add a password before sharing the file. For other files, you can enable sharing options so that others can only view the documents. The following Apple Support articles explain more about these features:

If you’d like to submit feedback for additional password options to be added for iCloud Drive, please use the following link to send feedback to Apple: Product Feedback

Cheers!

I'm going to need to leave feedback.

The problem with sharing now is that I have two options:

  1. Share with specific people
  2. Anyone with a link.

Sharing with specific people is fine, but then those people need to create an iCloud account to access file.

And if I share the anyone with a link feature, then my end-to-end encrypted iCloud drive has a hole in it, where anyone with a link can see the files, including Apple.

Ideally, I'd like to share files with people so they don't need to create an iCloud account, but just need to enter password into the iCloud website to see the file.

I know someone could share the URL and the password with someone else, but that's far less likely to happen than when I share a URL that just lets anyone with the link in.
