Renamed iMac but file sharing still uses old name

In System Settings —> Sharing I renamed my iMac. My hostname now is, let's say, Newname.local. My iPhone lists Newname as one of my devices.

The various sharing methods, however, still show the old name. Screen sharing says the address is "vnc://oldname/." File sharing says to use "smb://oldname." Remote login says to type "ssh username@oldname."

I've tried restarting; I've tried turning off sharing, restarting and turning sharing back on. I still see the old name in the places I mentioned.

How do really I rename my iMac? Is there a Terminal command? System Settings appears to be ineffective. Thanks in advance!

Go to  > System Settings > General > About > Name. Changing it here will also change the Sharing name. You can change the Sharing name, but that will not affect the first setting.

I've tried that, but alas, the circled i next to File Sharing brings up "Other users can access shared folders on this computer, and administrators all volumes, at smb://oldname."

I'll just go back to the old name. I changed it to see if I could get SMB sharing to work again (esp. in the Infuse video player app). Seemed unlikely, but why not try.

Ventura 13.3 purported to have fixed SMB sharing. It's not fixed.
