Setting up Mail account on Office365

I have used GoDaddy email for some years with no problems. At the end of 2022 Godaddy moved their email accounts to Exchange Office 365. I deleted my old Godaddy account in Mail and added the new Exchange account and all was well until late February when access failed. I have deleted that Exchange account and tried to set it up again but with no success. It works fine on my iPhone and iPad but not on my two laptops and desktop. I had another email address which I added to mail successfully and that works OK. To set that up in Mail Preferences I clicked on Add account, selected the Exchange option, entered email address and password, selected Workspace option (perhaps vice versa )and all was well. If I try the same With the original address when I try to set that up I do not get the Workspace option and it returns unable to verify address or password and yet if I log into webmail using the same parameter all is well. Its almost as if Mail has some old settings in a cache somewhere which are causing the failure.

See if this helps at all...

Using app passwords with apps that don't support two-step verification (microsoft.com)

What about application passwords? Will that keep working?

If application passwords are being used for MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) along with basic auth as another auth mechanism, then when basic authentication is disabled, app passwords used for MFA will stop working too.

Where can I find more information?

There are several resources that we wanted to provide here as additional reading:
