Apple Pencil 2 Hover feature not working

I have just bought a new iPad Air a last few days ago, the hover feature does not work. i have updated my OS and cant think of anything else that i would need to do.. please help.

Hover feature with Apple Pencil is only compatible with M2 iPad Pro models.
