Recurring pop up window requesting iCloud signIn obscuring PC screen…

First popup: large iCloud info screen showing storage (in the middle of my screen and it cannot be moved), then immediately by …

second popup on top of it: demands “enter your password to continue using iCloud”.

I enter my password, and it doesn’t work. Which leads to…

third small popup: white box, with red circle with white X on it and an OK button. Pressing the OK button makes the box disappear, but leaves the other big boxes on the screen.

Unfortunately, any documents I have open on the screen are covered up by this mess of boxes.

And when I click to get rid of them, they will pop back up immediately. This repeats maybe two or three more times, but they eventually leave only to appear in about two or three minutes later.

This makes working on my computer impossible and I am frantic about it. What can I do?

Is it a virus? Is it a storage issue in iCloud? If it is a storage issue, how can I take photos or whatever out of the cloud if I can’t log into it?

I did some more tests after I posted yesterday about my issues with the pop-up login request. I think I have solved this for me. Here's what I did on my VM and it seemed to fix it. YMMV

Other instructions about iCloud say to back up your files before doing anything like this, but as I understand it, these actions only affects files on the current PC. All the files will still be in your iCloud account in the cloud, but make your own assessment of your risk.

  1. Open Settings > Apps. Search for and uninstall apps: iCloud, iCloud Outlook. Check Control Panel (use Windows search in task bar) go to > Programs > Programs and Features. Uninstall any iCloud apps found.
  2. Check the Apps list in Start menu insure there is no iCloud apps listed. If so, right-click and select Uninstall
  3. Check for and delete any leftover iCloud folders: C:\Users\[YourUser]\iCloudDrive; C:\Users\[YourUser]\Pictures\iCloud Photos; If you have relocated your user files, check the same folders in the alternate location.
  4. Repeat 1 to 3 for all users on the system.
  5. Reboot the system.
  6. Reinstall iCloud from the Windows Store.

The reason I say to do all that checking is because I found remnants of iCloud after uninstalling from Setting and Control Panel.

I hope this helps other's out there.

I am having the same annoying pop-ups but a little different scenario. I have iCloud enabled and logged in on my primary Windows 10 computer and primary Apple Mac Mini. I also have it installed on a Virtual Machine. But on this VM I want it installed but not always logged in. So the first time, I just canceled the login request and that should have been it. But NOoooo.

iCloud has been installed on this VM for a long time but just recently I fired it up and this occurs. It did NOT occur in the past. So, I hope the knowledge powers that be here can give us some insight into what's going on. I'll try it on another physical Windows 10 system and see if it occurs there also.
