Sign In With Apple on app-websites does not work in chrome

When trying to sign in with apple on any app-website on the most recent chrome version does not work. On entering the email and password of the Apple-ID I get this error:

Unable to sign you in to your Apple ID. Try again later

In the webtools I see this error:

{
  "serviceErrors" : [ {
    "code" : "-36607",
    "message" : "Unable to sign you in to your Apple ID. Try again later. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https://support.apple.com/kb/HT212522 \">Learn more.<span class=\"sr-only\"> Opens in a new window.</span></a>",
    "suppressDismissal" : false
  } ]
}

We tested it with four different Accounts (on four different computers) on various app-websites (NYTimes, Ebay, mmhmm, vivino) and always got the same error.

It works in Safari, Firefox, directly in-app or on appleid.apple.com

Hi matthiasgubler,

For help with the alert you're seeing, there is a link included. Check out the details below found in the same article here: If you see an 'Unable to sign you in to your Apple ID' message - Apple Support

"If you see this message after attempting to sign in with a new device or web browser, wait for at least 24 hours, then try to sign in again.

If you see a message that says "Unable to sign you in to your Apple ID. Try again later," you've attempted to sign in to too many accounts on that device or web browser within a short period of time. You need to wait at least 24 hours before you attempt to sign in again on that device or web browser.

While there's no way to shorten this waiting period, you can continue to use other devices that are already signed in with your Apple ID.

During this time, don't:

  • Sign out of any of your devices
  • Reset your Apple ID password
  • Begin an account recovery request

Doing so won't remove the message, and might further delay access to your account. "

You can also check your security settings with the help of the article here: Manage the apps that you use with Sign in with Apple

If the issue remains after waiting the 24 hour period recommended in the first article, reach out to Apple Support directly to further assist.
