Why text messages?
My phone sends texts as text message not imessages. They don't always go to the intended recipient. How can I always send imessages?

You likely have the option enabled to send messages via SMS if sending via iMessage fails.
This can happen if the user only has one device registered with iMessage and it is powered off or out of cell data range.
