Sync: Keep icloud docs (backkup) but delete all duplicate files on macbook?

I suspect excessive battery drain from iCloud sync constantly polling for desktop file changes.


  • Reading conflicting info on local backup to iCloud (but delete duplicate files on MBP desktop).


What is the simple, recommended setting combination to only maintain a master backup on iCloud, but with the option to periodically (once per week) update the master with new files?

You cannot. iCloud is primarily a synchronization service. Any document in iCloud is also on your Mac. Any changes are synced automatically.
