Are you referring to the login photo for your Mac, or your Apple ID photo?

If you change the photo back to what it was previously, does it seem to be reflected as expected?

Testing that can help narrow down what's happening.

Thanks for the reply. We wouldn't be able to speculate as to what could've happened, but we do recommend testing by changing the photo to one you've picked and then monitoring it to make sure it does not happen again: Change a user’s login picture on Mac
