Title issues with Text iMovie 10.3.5 on iMac 2017 Ventura 13.1

Trying to create end titles on a project using the Scrolling titles option (over an orange Background). I correctly enter all credits per the layout in scrolling, but when I run the timeline or play them, they bunch up together in some weird realignment that looks like everything got centered and jumbled because of it. But when I double click on the viewer, it reverts to the proper Scroll format. Also, I don't see an alignment button to somehow re-align it. I know not all title options offer the alignment button so I am incredibly frustrated and unhappy. Also, every time I try to save the file, it saves with the jumbled text format. Thanks.

So, as you have found, the Scrolling Credits title can be a bit quirky because of the wrapping that it does with the text. You might try ways of overriding the default spacing and see if that helps. For instance, instead of separately selecting Name and Description and typing in the text for each, try selecting them both at once and then start typing and putting in your own spacing.

After you have typed in the text you can use your cursor and the spacer bar, and the backspace key, to adjust the position of the entries, and line up the wording. In the screen shot example above, the next name you would type in is Lamorris Wilcher, followed by four spaces. Then type in Story Concept. Then put your cursor in front of Lamorris and press the delete button several times to back space so that Lamorris is lined up with Ameer above it. Then put your cursor in front of Story Concept and use the space bar to move it over so that it lines up with Writer above it. Then set your title and see if it plays right.

When iMovie acts other than as expected it may be due to a preference that has gone awry. Try deleting/resetting preferences. Close iMovie and reopen while holding down the Option and Command keys. iMovie will open in a new empty library. Reopen your original library to get back to your project. Now see if the scrolling title works properly.

Also, try creating a new project and see if the title works there.

Thanks for these suggestions. I tried, but it made no difference. I deleted the titles I had, rewrote them on the original and a new project, and both times when I play them, they scrunch up together. I don't know what I'm doing wrong! Attaching on image of what is happening. The top one is how I type it out and the bottom one is how it plays. Thanks for your help!

Hmmm. To test, I created a scrolling title and typed in your info using the default font Gil Sans Bold and default font size 110. It played fine with no scrambling.

You might try using a smaller font size, say font size 102, and see if that corrects the spacing issue. You could change the font as well.

Thanks very much for your help! I used your suggestion and highlighted an entire line, wrote then text and then spaced it properly. It was a bit more labor intensive and definitely counter intuitive to how the scroll presents itself, but it worked. Nothing got scrunched up. I appreciate your suggestions!
