Welcome to the Apple (user-to-user) Community


The way I understand it:

Archive means keep the e-mails ...

Delete usually means keep for a set length of time (settings) before deleting.


You may want to browse through Apple Support's articles (links below)


Delete emails on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support


Delete and recover emails in Mail on iPhone – Apple Support


If necessary:

You might want to try moving the archived eMails back to the inbox, or "recover" them, and delete them from there.
