iPad with External Monitor, using True Tone & Night Shift

Does True Tone and Night Shift still works on the iPad (M1/M2, iPadOS 16.2) when using with an External Monitor?

Can True Tone and Night Shift adjust the external monitor as well?

Is it similar like when using an external monitor with a MacBook? On the MacBook, as long the lid is open, it can apply True Tone to the external display. (Reference: Use True Tone on your Mac - Apple Support).

Appreciate the insight! Thanks!

1) TrueTone and Night Shift continue to respond to ambient lighting conditions on the iPad screen when using an external monitor - either with or without Stage Manager being enabled - unless Reference Mode has been enabled. With Reference Mode enabled, TrueTone and Night Shift are disabled.

2) The iPad does not alter colour balance or brightness of the external monitor in response to ambient lighting - i.e., the iPad’s TrueTone and Night Shift settings do not influence the external monitor.
