Elevation issues Strava on Apple Watch Ultra

Elevation gain when recording Strava rides on the watch has been way off. Just got a new Ultra and it’s off right out of the box. Had same issue with Apple Watch 6. Any fixes / suggestions?

The elevation anomaly that occurred at the end of 2022 and beginning of 2023 was an error in the Strava App on the Apple Watch. It appeared with an app update, and disappeared with the next app update.

This is because Strava does not use elevation data that comes out of many devices. Strava maintains a database of devices that has a "barometric altimeter" and for all other devices elevation data is recalculated from Strava's own database. Garmin 935 for example is a device from which Strava accepts elevation as is. Apple Watch 6 for example is a device from which Strava does NOT accept elevation data. Strava's elevation map is wrong in a lot of places. This is why Apple fitness app shows the correction elevation often but Strava doe not.
