Shazam iphone APP library sync issues. Shazam website library stopped synching with Shazam APP

Hi everyone,

my Shazam iOS APP stopped synching tagged tracks with Shazam library website and have several other issues, as follows:

  • The last tagged tracks that the Shazam website is showing in its library is dated 17th July 2022 - but i have tagged several many other tracks after this date, which are visibile in the Shazam iOS APP.
  • Total number of tracks that Apple Music Website (music.apple.com) Shazam Playlist is showing is 100. Why is this? Note: I have an active Apple Music Subscription.

  • My Shazam iOS APP has 3117 tagged tracks, and in iTUNES (Microsft APP - PC), it only counts / shows / 2685 tracks under "My Shazam Playlist". The tracks that are missing from ITUNES are NOT the latest tagged tracked, but some of the many other ones. There are 432 missing tracks!

  • I requested all data that Shazam stores about my profile to be sent to me by email, i requested this here: https://www.shazam.com/privacy/login/download. The file includes all tagged tracks, and indeed the last track that was saved is the one I tagged on the 17th of July 2022. However...if I click in "Settings, then Diagnostic Report" in the Shazam iOS APP, the generated report confirms I have tagged 3117 tracks, so it seems the Shazam servers are not even saving any more of my tagged tracks, since 17th of July 2022.

The following is all the things i tried so far:

1) Deleted the Shazam APP (including its data on my iPhone) and re-installed it

2) Disabled the "Sync Shazam to apple Music" option, within the Shazam iOS APP, then restarted my iphone, then re-enabled the option

3) Disconnected and Re-connected Apple Music, from my Shazam website account (also signed out and signed back in again)

4) Re-installed iTunes Microsoft APP (v12.12.71)

5) Signed-out and signed back on, from Media & Purchases, from within my Apple ID, in my iPhone settings

6) Disabled and Re-enabled "Sync Library" option in my Apple Music APP, in iPhone Settings

All of the above options (done multiple times) have had zero effect and have not resolved my issues. I contacted Apple Support, and they also have been unable to fix the issues. They are saying I should contact Shazam Support, but do not know how to do this, as I was expecting an email, which i never received.

Has anyone experienced one or more of the above issues and has any tips on what it could be, or what else I could try to resolve them. My two main things i want to resolve are:

a) The sync between Shazam APP and Shazam Website libraries, so the tracks match

b) The sync between Shazam tagged tracks, and "My Shazam Tracks" playlist in ITUNES

Thanks in advance!

Seems to have been intentional. They own Shazam yet stoped sharing data with Shazam.come when you sync to iCloud.

Sync Music Recognition in Control Center with the Shazam App

When you turn on Music Recognition and Shazam in iCloud settings on your device, your song history is synced across the Shazam App and Control Center. In most cases, this happens automatically. Here’s what to do if it isn’t working:

  1. Make sure you've updated Shazam to the latest version.
  2. Make sure you have two-factor authentication set up for your Apple ID.
  3. Go to Settings > your name.
  4. Tap iCloud.
  5. Turn on Music Recognition.
  6. Turn on Shazam.

When you sync Shazam in Control Center with iCloud, your Shazams will no longer be available in your account at shazam.com. And because Shazam will no longer be storing your data, you won’t be able to get copy of your Shazam data from Shazam.com.

!!!!! It is All Done !!!!!!

Today after 8 mounths break, I tried Deansdale2023 's solution, first nothing happened but than I added another step and the shazam web site is all synced with my Iphone (600 songs) immediately!!

Here solution;

" Here are the steps:

Click on 'Settings' -> on top of everything click in Your Name -> 'iCloud' -> go to 'Apps using iCloud' -> 'Show All'.

Now disables 'Music Recognition' and 'Shazam'..... "

I waited 5 minutes and than try a restart Iphone, nothing happened. :(

Then just only opened Shazam option at the iCloud Settings. (not the Music Recognition)

They all came to my Shazam.com library page, exactly same number of songs, dowloaded CSV, its all there.

In detailed work;

There is a point; older times, before Apple buy Shazam, we were using with a mail account to sign in, than Apple forced us to use with iCloud account bc. of sync services and eco system Apple Music integration etc.

When you log in with iCloud account, the library menu button is moved from top menu to end of shazam web page, to site map list (they want to hide from us taking data and to use Apple Music instead) and there is no logout button at anywhere. Once you signed in with iCloud ID you cannot log out, or I couldn't found it.

So I tried another browser(EDGE) to sign in to Shazam.com and at the login page, I used sign in with mail option with my old Shazam's account mail, it mailed me a connection to get to Shazam library, but it was also empty bc I deleted them while trying to solve this problem last year. The old top menu came with all as old page with library menu item and logout item.

By this try I learned that apple is forcing us to use with iCloud Account only.

If you enable Music Recognition and Shazam option at iCloud Settings, it only sync data with apple music data base. If you use that way no website sync.

If you use only Shazam option at iCloud Settings, but no Music Recognition, It sync with web site.

This is like privacy something written at "What data do we collect and how do we use it?"

https://www.shazam.com/privacy

While all these steps that I try and solving, there is no loose of any data on my phone's shazam list and exactly same number of songs came to my shazam.com library.

As a conclusion, one Apple's silly problem is solved by our efforts and spending time from life. Thanks to Deansdale2023..

There was another step I tried, I don't know this has any effect but maybe.

!! While I disabled all Music Recognition and Shazam options from iCloud settings !! (pls don't do when syncing with iCloud), I found a action link at Shazam app settings menu in the About section, Erase User Data. It says that if you don't use iCloud ID or any ID it will be logged in as random account ID. So there was erase random user data link, and I used that. But when I enabled iCloud sync there was delete acoount data from iCloud, so I didnt use that. :)

Hi Todd0213, thanks for your reply but I am not sure how steps 2, 5 or 6 would be of help.

Apple Support does not seem to have section for Shazam-related topics.

Standard template-like answers won’t help here. I need advanced support from an expert and

knowledgeable user who has used the different platforms and knows exactly what I’m talking about.

Ideally, a Shazam / Apple Music developer who can replicate the issues and confirm these bugs and i willing to escalate them, so they can be actually fixed.

Apple Music paying subscribers shouldn’t have to put up with such simple-to-test / identifiable and fixable issues.

It’s basic stuff, it should be verified and promptly fixed.

Any knowledgeable expert who can help out there?

Hi,

Of course it was resolved.

Just follow these steps and you can now have the updated song list on shazam.com:

Here are the steps:

1- Go to 'Settings' and Click on your name (Apple ID, iCloud...):

2- Click on 'iCloud'

3- Below 'Apps Using iCloud', you have several apps but you need to tap on 'Show All':

4- Now uncheck 'Music Recognition' and 'Shazam'

That's it, wait 5 minutes and everything will appear on Shazam.com

I have same and more with your problem. I also tried all things as you and same end. but.. :) my shazam web library is empty and all icloud sevices are activated. Same Icloud ID, No sync.

I have iphone5s that dont in use. I wanted to try shazam with it, dowloaded older version of shazam bc of ios is 12.5.7 it has icloud synch as newest version, same menu specs etc. not much old I think. I activated shazam icloud sync but still have empty list in it, waited some long, not sych with my recent libraray at last version of shazam. Than I started to recognise new songs, woww! all new songs are synchronized with website library at the same time. Then I checked with my Iphone13Pro ios 16...(latest upd.) these new recognised songs are not shown there. All phones have same icloud id, all same settings, all sync other services over icloud and working and well wifi internet connection.

So older version of shazam with icloud sych option, its working and sync with web site of shazam over icloud. (bc there is no sign in with mail option or google just use apple icloud ID automaticaly when downloading app)

But newest version of shazam force you to use only APPLE MUSIC for that! What a JOKE Apple!

I also have similar problem with itunes Match sync. it is forcing me to use apple music with my old ipad1, ipad2, apple TV 1st ver. All my music library went gray its showing all sync. as normal, nothing missing as visual same number of songs album photoes etc. but they are just not playing with error "item couldnt find". All was ok and working till 2022's last months. At itunes on windows, iphone5s and 13pro, its ok, all sync and workin as normal with Itunes match.

I get long discussins with apple support on phone, but no solution for all these problems. They just say we couldnt find a solution to do.

All these sync problems and apple music forcing is started with 2023!

Hopefully this will trigger a notification to everybody who has commented expressing the same disdain and frustration about this issue.

While this isn't a fix for the Shazam.com Library not syncing the latest data from your phone, anyone who is really missing that Export to CSV feature should check out my solution posted in a similar discussion.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Dec 30, 2022 8:32 AM in response to skejja

Ok, for the benefit of the community, i wanted to provide an update on this. I have figured out that the reason why there is a discrepancy between tracks that are tagged by Shazam iOS APP, and ITUNES, is because Shazam APP tags not only tracks, but also adverts and anything else which may not be complete or officially released. Therefore some tracks may not appear in ITUNES, which means the numbers will ALWAYS be somewhat lower than what is visible in Shazam APP. In fact, not all tagged tracks in Shazam APP, have a "Music" icon next to them.

So far, so good.

What I am still trying to figure out is the following:

1) Why if I go to music.apple.com, and login to the website, why do i only see 100 tracks? Really, I would expect to see the same number I see in ITUNES on my PC (Microsoft Store ITUNES software). Is there a limit?

2) The Shazam website is still not visualising additional tunes that I am tagging in the Shazam APP, the sync seems to have stopped. I tried everything. I know that my Shazam APP library is saved on iCloud, i just do not understand why the Shazam APP is no longer updating my Shazam website account.

I believe this to be a bug, as if I request all personal data stored about my profile from the Shazam website, i can the same number of tracks I get on the Shazam website, so I know tht my latest tagged tunes from Shazam APP, aren't actually being saved by Shazam servers (while i am guessing they are just being saved in iCloud). Any idea on this anyone?

Jan 16, 2023 10:58 PM in response to skejja

Sorry, no answer, just to say I have the same problem. I do not have a subscription to Apple Music, so my iTunes does not reflect the Shazams. My iPhone says I have 652 Shazams and the web account says I have 490. For me, the website library stopped syncing June 21, 2022. I like to use the csv download feature on the website to puruse songs to purchase in iTunes so I can do chord analysis (jazz songs). Although I can listen to the Shazamed song in Spotify, I cannot put the songs in my slow downer software unless I buy them in iTunes. It is a much more difficult world for me now.

Jan 17, 2023 1:15 PM in response to rsumrall

Hi Rsumrall, thanks for your message. So it looks like it is not a single user issue, it's interesting to know it may be an issue affecting multiple users.

It is normal for iTunes not to be updating from the Shazam APP, because that requires a subscription. Without an active subscription, Shazam APP playlist will not update in iTunes.

But the sync issue between Shazam APP and Shazam Website, is definitely a bug. Doesn't make sense for the list not to update once you have logged in with the same account username as the APP.

Also, assuming someone looses the phone, the Shazam APP that is re-installed I assume will pull the data from your Shazam account. I am unsure about this, because i know Shazam APP data is also saved in iCloud, but still, assuming it can be fully restored, it is still a bug the fact the Shazam website does not match the same number of tracks, and the CSV file is proof of that. Shazam servers have stopped saving new tag ids.

Does anyone know how to get hold of Shazam support or developers, because Apple Music support does not seem able to resolve this issue, nor escalate it. Even trying to report bugs via the Shazam APP iOS itself on Apple Store, redirects to Apple Support. Totally frustrating!

Mar 12, 2023 3:31 AM in response to skejja

skejja, I can say with confidence that you are not alone in this! I am actually facing the same, where my Shazam app fails to sync with my Apple Music Shazam playlist. I deleted both apps, I installed them again and the issue persists. The phone and the apps are updated (since I redownloaded them after uninstalling). I rebooted the device, tried several connection method (Wi-Fi and cellular) and has failed on all attempts. I do not want to resync my playlist as I have deleted some songs from my Apple Music playlist and by resyncing the two apps Shazam will bring back all the songs which I deleted in the music app but not in Shazam.

Frustrating, because I know the feeling calling support and not knowing that Apple owns Shazam and the reps have no training provided to help on the issues but merely rely on internal articles to help customers.

Not the best customer experience lately Apple, you need to get your head from the ground and start dealing with real issues.
