Trying to install OS Catalina but system always tries to install OS Big Sur instead, and there's not enough disk space for Big Sur. What can I do?

Select the version you want.
It will automatically begin installation after the download is complete, but you can quit and do it later if you like. The OS installation file will remain in your Applications folder.
