i first noticed this issue yesterday.. although i have not been using my phone much for about a few days or more.. And I might not have had time or noticed a persistent face ID not working then.. but yesterday Dec 20, 2022 I noticed that face ID was not working and checked to see what was wrong.. I knew that sometimes this can be caused by not having the latest update.. so i checked to see if there were any updates.. and 16.2 update was available.. so i did a download and install of this update.. and still face ID was not working and it said FaceID disabled because of problem with Truedapth camer or something like that.. And now i did have the latest update. I tried backing up and resetting all settings. that did not fix it. Then i tried a factory reset where i delet all my settings and personal files (i had already backed up so i knew i could restore from my backup). I then restored from my latest iphone backup. and still face ID was not working saying Face ID disabled due detecting problem with truedepth camera/sensor? It did initially let me try to set up face ID with the circle and such .. but after displaying it for a couple second a window popped up saying problem detected with true dept sensor

i’m having this same problem only mine hasn’t fixed itself. it’s been around 1 week and it doesn’t even recognize my face is there. when i go to set up face ID it only says “position your face within frame”. i’m getting really frustrated and have tried everything apple support says to do….
