Is the ios 15.7 update okay and safe?

Face ID stopped working for me (12 pro max) Trying to get answers
I can't say exactly which update but seems like 15.7 might be an attempt by Apple at slowing older devices or making them drain their batteries so fast so as to kill them in a couple of hours.
