Screen Issue Macbook Air M1 2020

After upgrading to Monterray in August my Air immediately started having screen issues. A long band of darker shade on the left side of the screen encroaching about 2 inches. Displays on all webpages and in light and dark mode. The screen flickers uncontrollably, and suddenly parallel lines flicker in and out. This disappeared after I restarded and turned off my mac and left it off overnight and I had zero issues until yesterday when the exact same thing started happening again. It flickers even when I watch videos on VLC but less so, it flickers in dark mode but only in the lighter areas of the screen.

Anyone know what this is or how to fix it? I work online so it's diabolical and the mac is only 18 months old. I also am far away from my country of origin so cannot pop into my store and ask them to look at it without paying a fortune.

As you can see on the photo, the grey band on the left. What u cannot see is the relentless flickering.. the macbook has never been dropped or had any liquid spilt on it. EVer.

Hi,

Try to check your MacBook Air with Apple Diagnostics if it's caused by hardware, graphic logic or screen error.

Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac - Apple Support

If it doesn't help, contact Apple Support, or take your MacBook Pro to your local retail AppleStore, Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined your MacBook Air there.

NO ISSUES FOUND after running diagnostics test.

The screen worked fine all of last night and today again its a flickering mess. The last time I took it to Genius Bar was when it first happened and the guy tried to sell me a new screen for $500, and I'm sorry, a 16 month old macbook that has never been dropped should never break that easily/quickly... then it worked for 2 months and now it's started again.

Frustrating as ****.

A quick look on reddit seems there are tons of people with this exact issue but they have reported it to Apple who replied saying there is nothing wrong. Typical. Take our money but don't help us at all when their product is faulty. Unreal.... They'll happily take $400 to replace the screen and then it will break 1 week after the warranty is out. Scoundrels.
