I’ve an iPhone 6 that is frozen. I’ve followed all the internet reboot/restart instructions but none work. Advice please. Jim Chapman

I’ve an iPhone 6.

When playing Sudoku.com’s Killer Sudoku my screen froze.

I’m still receiving calls, texts, messages etc but cannot see or access them.

I’ve tried switching the phone off using the right-side button but no joy. Tried all the other options e.g. depress sound and off buttons simultaneously but none have worked,

I’m hoping when the battery needs recharging I’ll be able to switch on again and regain control but if that fails I imagine I’ll have to take it somewhere for repair.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards

Jim Chapman

Problem resolved.

Because the screen image was frozen and still visible the battery eventually ran down causing the phone to automatically switch off.

I inserted the charging cable and, when sufficiently charged, logged in normally without any problem.

Thanks for your assistance.

Just established it’s an iPhone SE,

If you've tried the forced restart sequence (and as it appears you have), contact Apple Support and discuss your options.

The first-generation iPhone SE is from 2016, so not usually worth repairing.

iPhone SE 2nd and 3rd are from 2020 and 2022, so might be worth repairing.

That is not the forced-restart sequence for any of the three iPhone SE models; 1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation.

There are two restart sequences, one specific to 1st gen, and a second sequence for 2nd and 3rd.

It sounds like the screen is broken if you still get calls etc.

It really is not worth repairing an iphone as obsolete as the iphone 6 as fewer and fewer apps will work in iOS12. It will cost about $129 or £129. Better put the money towards an iPhone SE 2022, or one of the "new, unused" warranted iPhone 8's on Ebay

Background:

I was playing Killer Sudoku (Sudoku.com version) when an advertisement displayed on the screen (a regular occurrence). When the advert finished the iPhone screen returned to the Killer Sudoku screen which “froze”. That image is still displaying (6 hours on!). So the image is visible and when it dims, if I press the screen it brightens. So I don’t think there’s a problem there.

Unfortunately, I cannot get any other displays and the side buttons no longer function. When I follow the instructions to power off (e.g. depress down volume and power off simultaneously) I get through to the UK Emergency services switchboard!!!!

So everything appears to be physically okay but the software is frozen (my layman’s description).

Hope the above is more meaningful.
