SOLUTION!!! (From another thread I found — thank you to the original poster 🙌🏼)

When connecting the airpods to the TV, they have a built in volume which is disconnected to the TV volume, and this defaults itself to minimum hence seeming like there's no sound coming through.

If you use the new airpods, and using the side of them increase the airpod volume directly (stroking the stem upwards) you will solve the problem!

I solved my problem by updating my Airpods Pro Gen 2 to Firmware Vsn 5B58 and problem with Samsung TV is fixed. I have Samsung QN65QN9DAAFXZA. The Airpods were delivered with Firmware 5A374 - which does NOT work at all - Airpods connect and "appear" to work except there is no sound on any station. I am not sure when this 5B58 was released but it solves my problem.

5B58 came out November 8 but did NOT fix the problem. I have been talking with Apple Care for 2 months without any progress. I spent 2 hours on the phone on Friday. Official position at this stage is they don't believe it's an issue as they don't guarantee their AirPods to work on anything other than an Apple product. I don't consider that acceptable. They also cannot comment on if they will ever 'fix' the issue or when it might even be. I don't see how I have any option but to return them. Which is very disappointing.

I have had this same issue with my Samsung TV and have run the iphone/airpods updates, and still do not get sound using my AirPods pro 2 and my Samsung TV. It's a huge bummer since I have really like using my regular AirPods to watch TV and play games at night while my family is sleeping. Apple needs to fix this asap. It makes no sense why this issue exists unless apple is trying to force people to buy Apple TV's, which would be predatory...

I have read everyone's post after my previous post mentioning that the upgrade to Apple's firmware 585b solved my problem with my Sony TV and hearing the audio via Airpods Pro Gen 2. So I wanted to add (in case it helps someone else) that it did NOT work "at first". We have two pairs of Airpods Pro Gen 2 (two people in the room) creating some other issues around the TV seeing both pairs at once .. etc. Bottom line - we rebooted TV at one point and reinstalled the Airpods Pro at another point and renamed... sadly we did not keep track of what we did in what order! BUT... something around re-installing (on our iPhones and on Samsung TV blue tooth) and re-booting worked. I wish I knew which element triggered the success. The only other difference I can think of is the TV itself and Sony's firmware. Model QN65QN9DAAFXZA and Software T-NKM2AKUC-2101.0 BT-S

Just connecting to the tv as before but while using the ps5 it seemed to hold the connection. Right after I posted that, the connection went bad and I had to reconnect but it lasted for about 5 or 6 YouTube videos filled with ads. I set the audio output on the ps5 and the tv to bitstream I believe

I dont know if its a coincidence but I disabled the find my function on the AirPods P2 and works fine with my Samsung 4k TV where as before was connecting but no sound,,,,I wish to thank a fellow poster here somewhere who mentioned the 'find my' using a bandwidth which may interfere as this solved it for me (at least until hopefully apple sorts this as I want the functions all working which was paid for), thanks again

Same here, got with apple support then escalated to senior advisor. After several attempts the Senior

advisor reached out to Apple and found that there is no solution at the present time and they are aware of the problem. He suggested That I reach out to Samsung and give them my Apple case number. Not what I wanted to hear but watch gonna do.

Exactly my experience as well! No matter what you try, no volume at all from Airpods Pro 2. Connects quickly and shows that you are connected when you touch the volume on the Samsung remote but no volume no matter what you try. Yet my Airpod Max works perfectly every time!

The volume 'solution' doesn't work for me. I've reached the end of the line with Apple on this. Having elevated it about 4 times in the end Apple's position is that they can't guarantee the pods to work on anything other than an Apple product and they cannot comment if or when it may be fixed. In fact they don't even consider it a problem. However I complained so earnestly that I was sent a free Apple TV 4K as an apology so I can connect the headphones that way. I suggest you all request the same.

Like others on this discussion thread, I have had issues with my newly purchased Apple AirPods Pro2 and my Samsung TV. In my case the TV is a Samsung AU8000 Crystal UHD Smart TV (2021). I have the problem that has been reported by others with losing sound when changing a channel on my TV.

I have been in contact with Samsung support on two different occasions for this issue, and I also have confirmed that I am on the latest version for the TV. From the Samsung perspective, it is an Apple issue since I do not have this issue with my Apple AirPods Pro1 with this same TV. My AirPods Pro2 are at Version 5B58.

I have also been in contact with Apple support (I bought the AirPods Pro2 on 11/25/2022) on two different calls. In both cases I was connected with a "senior advisor". On the first call, they recommended I send in my Pro2's to be checked. I did this, and no issue was found. They indicated they could not replicate the issue. I'm sure in their "service center" they are testing with their standard manufacturing procedures. I received the Pro2's back, tried them, and confirmed I still had the same issue.

I called Apple support again on Friday January 6. I was connected with a "Senior Advisor" again. We discussed the problem and that the Pro1's work correctly with my Samsung TV and the Pro2's do not work correctly with this same TV. After 45 minutes on the call, the "Advisor" contacted Apple Engineering on what information is needed to be gathered. The advisor was told that Engineering would not accept a ticket for this and that I needed to contact Samsung. The advisor did not communicate to me that this was a known problem or that Engineering was aware of a similar problem.

I have tried a couple of the work-arounds suggested on this thread. (1) I changed the Digital Output Audio Format of my Samsung TV from Auto to PCM. This had no effect (positive or negative) on the problem. (2) I also disabled the find my function on the AirPods P2, but this had no improvement on the problem.

In case anyone has a discussion with Apple, you can reference my case so that you don't get the run around that this is a new issue and has not been reported.

I'm not sure which problem ludex22 is referring to. It sounds like the problem with the AirPods showing up with "Find My" attached to the name. I still see the problem with losing sound completely when changing channels, changing apps, pausing and pressing play.
