It might also have been fixed if you had simply turned off your device and started it again. It may be the upgrade simply needed to take a look at your settings to be reminded that you were part of Family Sharing. One thing to note with doing things the way you did is to avoid doing it again too soon.

See Leave Family Sharing - Apple Support. Perhaps you left by mistake, or the family organizer removed you or disbanded the family.

No, neither of those things happened. Could it be the upgrade to IOS16? It happened almost immediately after I did that. In any event, I TURNED OFF Family Sharing and then turned it back ON again and all is now working again.

I actually rebooted last night for some other reason. But when I checked Family Sharing this morning, nothing had changed. Family Sharing was active, but no members other than me, The Organizer. That is when I executed the Stop Using Family Sharing and then reactivated it and sent out the invitation to the other member.
Why does it say I am no longer participating in Family Sharing?
