I bought a new iphone and when I tried to connect my watch, it keeps trying to connect to an Apple ID that is not mine. I logged out of my ID ( on the phone) and then logged back in. But it stills keeps asking for the password for the incorrect ID. I reset the watch and attempted to connect to the new phone again but the same thing keeps happening.
Does anyone know how to fix this ?

Yes, it was paired to most recent iphone. So I followed the steps above and in the link you shared … and unpaired, erased and removed it from the old phone ( which it worked with but not with this random Apple ID). And turned the old phone off.
When you say the phone is new,was it brand new in a sealed box?,I've seen this before where somebody bought what they thought was a new phone and it turned out to be a phone that somebody had returned and didn't remove the phone from their apple account so the phone was locked to somebody else's apple id.
I think it's time to contact apple support,you've tried everything else;
Is the phone or watch 2nd hand?.
The phone is new and the watch is the one I’ve had for a couple of years.
I did all of the steps mentioned, but still… it pairs, then requests the password for the wrong Apple ID. I can’t get past that step.
Has the watch ever been paired to anther phone?.
That’s what I was thinking too, but yes it was new and still in a sealed box.
