Home app forces itself onto my screen unwanted

When I swipe to check % of charge, the Home app comes up when I try to close that screen. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE HOME. This annoyance is new and I hate it. I have the iPhone 13 mini. The only way I know to see % of charge is to swipe.

I can swipe up to get rid of Home, but it is very annoying as I don't want to see it ever.
