SuperDrive and Hi Sierra MacBook Pro?

Others have posted about Apple SuperDrives “not supported” on older MacBook Pro’s running Hi Sierra but I haven’t found any solutions.

I’m running an SSD where my internal drive once was for performance.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to download a driver or if there’s an update to fix this problem?

Apple - SuperDrive 8x External USB drive is no longer working on my 2020 MacBook Air or my 2021 IMac 24. I purchased a new Apple Superdrive in August of 2022 at the same time I purchased my 2021 IMac 24. This drive worked on both the IMac24 and my 2020 Macbook Air using a USB type c hub. I had not used it for a while and recently tried, and on both machines I get this message "USB Accessory Needs Power Connect "Apple USB...." to a USB port on this Mac". I have tried restarting with the SuperDrive attached ( this used to work in the past to get the IMac to recognize the drive) and have updated to Sonoma, and I am wondering if updating the OS is the problem.?

My WD Smartware External Hard Drive won't open My WD Smartware external hard drive won't open the DriveUnlock for My Book Elite. My MAC states this WD needs to update it's driver in order to operate with Monterey 12.6. but I can't find any driver for this external hard drive. I have tons of pics stored and can't access it.

An Apple SuperDrive has to be plugged directly into a Mac, i.e, no hubs. Other than that…
