Hotspot / overheating

I have an iPhone 12 mini. I’ve never had to use it as a hot spot before but a tree fell on my garage and took out my power and internet. Power got restored a lot faster than internet. I work from home so… hot spot.

After a little while maybe half an hour the phone got so hot it shut off. It was too hot to hold - I was having to juggle it while I ran downstairs to throw it in the freezer.

This can’t be normal. It legit could have started a fire or the battery could have exploded.

Is there a known issue? Definitely not safe.

Hello,

No known issues. Perhaps there was "dirty" power with large fluctuations. Was it plugged in?

See this:

Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures

Good luck.
