IMAP Help - I Only have iPhone iOS 15.5

I only have an iPhone updated to iOS 15.5 No computer access.

I need a way to turn IMAP on from my phone so I can continue using Apple Mail on my iPhone.

Everything is set up and verified but I get “Gmail is currently unavailable” message when I try to open Apple Mail.

I can’t find a way to get to a Forwarding/POP tab in my Gmail app.

I repeat: I only have an iPhone updated to iOS 15.5 No computer access.

Please help. I need access to my email and all my saved Notes ASAP. Thanks

iPhone 6s, iOS 15

Google changed the security requirements for gmail accounts. Go to Settings/Mail/Accounts, tap on the gmail account and delete it. Then restart your phone, and add the account back and it will prompt with new security requirements.

Thank You.

I have been unable to use Apple Mail since four days ago. Meanwhile I updated a Note and added a Note on my phone.

I should assume then that they will be updated and added when I add the new account and it becomes functional ?

If so I’ll delete both Original and recently added accounts, restart iPhone and add new account as you suggest. Thanks again for your help

Thank You for all your help !

i managed to get my Mail back and working. I only lost daily updates/edits on 2 Notes and 3 new Notes I had made since four days ago because they couldn’t save to Gmail. That’s way better than losing 6789 Notes from the past 10+ years !

I had to manually enter imap.gmail prefix and reset as Default account.

I’m very Thankful for your knowledge and hep.
