Safari shenanigans

For the last two weeks, Safari has been misbehaving on every other website I might try to load. Some load fine. Others begin and then hang. I pull up the web inspector option (as if I could interpret the meaning of the error logs there).

I have to default to Chrome to load the sites Safari refuses to

I have followed the options the help page here offers as potential solutions. Still no fix.

Anyone else having similar trouble--or found effective remedies?

thanks

I understand Safari often fails to completely load a web page.

If Safari on Mac doesn't open a webpage or isn’t working as expected - Apple Support offers several suggestions. In addition to them, try simply restarting your Mac in the usual manner.
