After the last update my iPhone has stopped pasting pictures and only pasting the link to the picture . This is incredibly annoying. No matter where I copy the picture from (web, WhatsApp, messenger etc) no matter the format. It only pastes the link to the photo and not the photo itself. How to restore the phone to its previous functionality?
It probably helpful to know how the phone used to behave. Here’s an easy example: browse internet, see an interesting or funny picture, hold my finger down on the image, select “copy” go to messenger or IMessage , hold my finger down and select “paste” and voila! I have done this for many years and used many iPhones probably thousands of times. Now it pastes the URL to the picture and not the picture itself. Another example might be receiving a picture in Messenger and sending it to someone in WhatsApp. Using the same process (that I have done thousands of times) results in it pasting a link and not the picture itself. . Yes I’ve restarted my phone. And just to complicate matters: sometimes it works! Yet at other times it reverts to pasting the link. Any app.

If you are unable to copy and paste images, are you following these steps?
You can also touch and hold a selection, then tap Cut, Copy, or Paste.

If so, what app or apps are you trying to paste the image into? Does the image paste in the Notes app as expected?
