Hi! I cannot seem to get our new iMac to recognize there is a drive plugged in. I have gone to apple chat and for about an hour and a half, but to no avail! Has anyone experienced this and can help? Thanks!

Exactly what external DVD drive and what are you plugging it into? The DVD drive should have it's own power supply and be plugged directly into the back of the computer. DO NOT use a hub to connect the DVD drive.

I have one question, just to be clear. I have an external drive. It does not show up on my desktop unless and until I put a disk into it. Do you still not see it with a disk installed?
