Here are three steps you can try to attempt to restore your iPad.
1. 2. If it persists, and you are getting an error message, try another computer if possible.
3. You can also try to update in recovery mode by following If you can't update or restore your iPhone or iPod touch. Here's a YouTube video from Apple Support on how to do this too.
