OS Server Cost

Apple sells an Application in the App Store called "macOS Server" for around $20 and can be deployed on devices running MacOS 12.0 or later.

There are a few important things to note about this software.

Key features:

• Manage certificates
• Host a web server
• Host Profile Manager (a mobile device management solution)

Ideally, you would only use this software in a test or small use-case environment; macOS Server, particularly Profile Manager, is outperformed by third party solutions.

In summary, it provides a graphical interface for providing basic server functions on a local network, but Apple's days of retailing physical server hardware and dedicated OS have long since passed.

Apple no longer makes a server version of macOS. Last version was Mountain Lion and was $499.
