ARD to an M1 machine produces a black screen

I have a 2013 MacPro. My user just got the first M1 machine in our company. I can remote into his MacBookPro with ARD but his screens appear black (laptop and Apple 30" Cinema Display) with only his cursor visible. He is running the latest Monterrey. I am running the latest Big Sur. My ARD app is 3.9.5 I tried adjusting the image quality slider but it made no difference.

HELP!

Mac Pro, macOS 11.6

I figured out a work around this AM. On my user's machine with the M1, I checked Screen Sharing instead of Remote Management under Sharing in System Preferences. THAT worked. I can connect to his machine through the ARD app via the Screen Sharing protocols.

This is a work around but NOT ideal. Machines available via Screen Sharing do NOT appear in the ARD list of machines as active. So, for instance, I cannot see the machine is idle and take the opportunity to run through its updates.

Maybe...Just maybe, ARD will turn 4 someday soon and get a real overhaul. But, alas, I don't bet on it. This is still the company which cannot code the pop-up dialogs at start-up to wait their turn. They constantly interrupt each other....still after all these years.
