I have decided not to buy Final Cut Pro at the moment having hardly used it for 70 days of a 90 day trial. What is the easy way to cancel the trial and not end up paying for the full version at the end of the trial?

You will never be charged unless you decide you want to buy the paid version.
Apple should stress this as most of us are suspicious about so called "Free Trials" as many are scams that will take your money if you forget to cancel.

It sounds as though you will not be doing a great deal of editing?
If this is so, you may find that iMovie (FREE) will do everything you want.
Should you want to do anything more ambitious on occasions you could download the completely free Da Vinci Resolve which can do everything that Final Cut Pro can.
Options are always more helpful than descends so thanks for this. I have contacted Apple and was advised to wait until two or three days from the end of the trial. Was also sent some links to investigate my subscriptions and manage any orders. But there is nothing on my Apple ID/iTunes or subscriptions. Presumably this is because it is a free trial. Wouldn’t it be better to advise people that it is easy to stop the trial without penalty. As advised above Apple is a little guilty of implying that if you do nothing the trial automatically charges us £249.99.
All you had to do to get the free trial was click on a link without giving any personal information.
Apple will not even know you have downloaded the free trial because you don't do it from the App Store.
It's a completely anonymous download.
Throw away the application. The trial will just end.

There is nothing to do. It is not a subscription. The end of the trial does not activate a sale. There is nothing linking the trial download to your Apple ID.
