[bluetooth] Sony WH1000XM4: volume showing weird behavior

Hi!

After some time using my headset paired with bluetooth on my macbook pro 13-inch, 2018 with MacOS 12.1, I have noticed some stronger sound on the left side of my headphones. Going into Audio MIDI setup I noticed that the left/right volume was different. After trying to adjust it, I noticed that the primary volume setup was unavailable. (see image) Changing it from the 1,2 commands will create some jitter on the UI and cause both the other side to change too in some random way. Changing the volume from the volume button of my touch bar causes the same issue!

It has been 2 weeks and after restarts and re-apparing the issue is still there.

Best,

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

If you haven't already, install Sony's Headphone Connect to your phone and then pair these headphones with the phone. Launch the Headphones app and see if it detects a firmware update, and if so, apply it. Although the headphones app does not have any balance controls, there is an optional equalizer available. Who knows, perhaps a firmware update will resolve the balance issue you have.

I did not have your balance issues, but I was only able to pair these headphones with my M1 mini and the new 16-inch MBP M1 Pro after updating the firmware. Now, when I have both Macs running, I can power on the headphones and hear it announce in order that it has paired with each Mac.
