Why is my i-pencil not applying pressure?

My i pencil abruptly lost its touch sensitivity. I replaced the pencil and continue to have the same problem. Here’s what the problem acts like… when i use any touch based app the pencil works fine, the tablet reacts to the touch however when i open any drawing app, the pencil only draws a very light and barely visible line regardless of how much pressure I apply. If I go into those various drawing apps to adjust the pressure curves, i can make it so that it draws a full pressure line but then the problem is now that it has no ability to produce any line of lesser pressure. I have called apple and visited the store but other than spending a lot of time looking at it no solution has been found.

Hi Jonakand78, thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities.

Can I suggest that you update to the latest iPadOS which is 15.3 (if you have not done this already) as updates can help resolve some problems. The following link can help you:

Can I also suggest that you try a Force Restart as that can sometimes resolve legacy issues as per the following link:

https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/ipad/ipad9955c007/ipados

And maybe try forgetting the Pencil and reconnecting it again and the following link explains how to do this:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205236

However, because you have already contacted Apple Support and visited an Apple Store, I can only suggest you try it on another iPad to see if the problem persists or try another Apple Pencil on your iPad if there is one available.

This problem has persisted through several updates as well as new i pencils. I think it might be the i-pad itself but i’m afraid of losing files on my current ipad if i replace it. My life is on this device and despite any difficulties it is still my favorite purchased thing of all time.
