Do macbook pro 2014-2015 support gen 4 PCIE m.2 ssd?

I just put a WD BLACK SN750 Gen 4 PCIe nvme with an adapter on Macbook pro 2014 and 2015, and somehow it doesn’t read or show up in the disk utility, and then I try the Samsung 970 evo plus PCIe Gen 3.0 it worked

Does the Macbook pro 2014-2015 not compatiable with Gen 4 PCIe but only PCIe Gen 3.0 with an adapter?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

I would contact the seller/manufacturer of you third party If in doubt ...

search their website; Support/Help/FAQ/known issues/compatibility:

Contact a third party vendor
