Monterey upgrade

I have BigSur 11.6.1 and am a bit scared of updating to Monterey.

I hear people have had trouble with their Photos not being the same and being faded etc.

Do I have to update to Monterey as I don't use my Mac for anything much apart from e-mails and web searching, Excel and Word.

I do like my Photos and Apple TV and I don't want anything to change. I was very happy with the initial iPhoto and Catalina made a lot of changes to that and I don't want the same big change.

Please help

There are issues with every upgrade for somebody. That's why we have these forums. The key to safely upgrading is to make a back up first. That way, should you find an issue with something that you cannot resolve, you can simply and easily revert to the status quo ante.

No, you don’t have to upgrade.

Big sur will continue to be supported with security updates for a while yet. You really only need to update If the update gives you features you need

Thank you. I was lead to believe one you upgrade and dont like it, you cannot get back to where you were - in this case BigSur.

I have Time Machine which constantly backs up.
