When will Apple make widgets interactive?

Hello, when is Apple planning on making the widgets interactive from the Home Screen ? Currently they are read-only which is nice, but it would be 100x better if you could pause music, scroll through emails etc. without having to open the app instantly (and neither opening the message or stock that you click on which is a bit of a nuisance).

I hope this gets rolled out soon and wondering why it wasn’t already in iOS 15!

thanks

Apple is not here, no rep from Apple will answer you in this user to user forum.

You can make a suggestion to Apple here.

It is not possible for any other user in this user-to-user forum to answer any question about Apple’s plans.

You can pause music from the Control Center (drag down from the battery icon to open it) and perform a number of other functions.

You can hold your finger on mail for a second and a menu will appear that lets you view unread mail, create a new message, and some other functions.

You can hold your finger on settings and jump directly to frequently used Settings functions.

Many other built in functions have this feature; try Reminders, Calendar, Clock, App Store, Music (Search for music), Phone, Fitness, Health, Weather, Wallet, etc. Try them out.

And any app can be enhanced by its developer with similar capabilities. I have several that are, for example, PocketCasts.

Thanks for your response. The simple actions to be taken from control centre are not what I’m talking about.

I think you would agree with me that the “use” of widgets on iOS lies in a mere shadow of the capabilities of android.

In google search widget one should be able to type a search and view some responses, without opening the app.

Idem. for the google maps widget.

In the mail widget one should be able to scroll through messages and select the relevant email, not the top 4.

Idem. for stocks, news, music, and calendar.

I haven’t seen any official communication from Apple regarding this and was hoping a representative would answer here.
