I want to make an appointment at the store to transfer info from my old MacBook Pro!

You can do it yourself. See here: Move your content to a new Mac – Apple Support (UK). The fastest method of transfer I believe would be to use the appropriate Thunderbolt cables to link your Macs.

One thing to note is that you will ideally want to run Universal Binary or Apple Silicon native applications, so in some cases, you’ll want to reinstall the latest version of the application. For example, Chrome has a newer Universal version available from their website [Universal apps automatically run the native version for your device] (I still wouldn’t recommend using Chrome, it’s just an example). Most x86 apps will still run under Rosetta, but they’ll take a performance hit.
