I seem to have a virus

Several Things:

1) The cursor arrow grows extremely large at times.

2) It will not let me close pages.

3) Messages will flash on the screen and are difficult, or impossible, to delete.

I have had to re-boot my laptop so many times but the issues keep coming back?
