Always on function not available on new watch series 8

The always on function is not available on my watch series 8. How to fix?

My series 5 watch the "always on" feature stopped working. It is turned "on" in "settings". How do I fix this? The "Always On" feature in My Series 5 watch suddenly stopped working. In "Settings" it is turned on. When I tap the screen it lights up, stays on for about a minutes then goes black until I tap it again. How do I correct this?

There is no series 8 watch.
