Lack of parental controls on Apple Arcade
I've just discovered today that despite having purchases turned off in the AppleTV settings, the kids have been able to go to the Arcade and download any games they want. Since the kids are younger, they can't play all the games effectively and therefore get frustrated...causing meltdowns.
No problem, I thought. I'll just delete the Arcade app. Can't do that. No problem, I thought. I'll just adjust the maturity controls to limit access to certain game types. Hahahaha. Nope. Doesn't exist. No problem, I thought, I'll just remove the subscription. But since I have the One Apple subscription package, removing the Apple Arcade subscription ADDS $20/month to the previously $30/month package. Fine I say, I'll treat this as a "cost of adding quasi-parental controls". Now I can't use the Apple Arcade on any device I own, but so be it. At least no more meltdowns, right?
Hopefully. Who knows... the subscription has to run its course through the rest of the month (another 25 days) before it expire and (hopefully) becomes non-accessible.
I'm furious. I can't honestly understand why in 2021, at least a DECADE after the whole "kids are accidently buying $1000 worth of cookies through Alexa" debacle we're still dealing with nonsense. Who in their right mind agreed to launch a GAMING platform without the slightest bit of parental controls? Seriously... that's like launching a new model of car and forgetting to put in a passenger seat. Car still works, and a passenger can still ride, but they sure as anything aren't going enjoy the experience, no matter how peppy the car is.
Ridiculous.
