Apple Pay Card Verification

I recently upgraded from an IPhone 11 to a 12. I used my debit card on Apple Pay (or did with the old phone). On the new phone it says that I have to verify the card. However, every time I try (either with phone number or email) it says it’s not working right now and to give it a few minutes. This has been a day or 2.

The phone number being offered for verification seems to be incorrect, and I’m not sure how to correct it, although the email seems right. I don’t know whom to call or contact to deal with this.

Thanks.

Hi,

First confirm you are updated to iOS 15.1.1.

Afterwards, I’d recommend removing all old devices from your Apple ID that you no longer have/use, and that were also set up with Apple Pay.

Settings > Name > Devices > remove all cards > remove from account.

As for the verification options provided upon attempting to add your card to Wallet, usually in the form of a verification code sent via phone number or email; these are provided by that financial institution. The verification options given go based off what information you currently have on file with your bank for that card.

Apple is unable to modify anything associated with this process.

However, If you know that your bank has the correct phone number on file for you, you could try to click on the old number that is displayed and see if it will send the verification code to your current phone number. Sometimes there can be an error with the way the phone number is displayed. If that doesn’t work, contact your bank.
