Adding photos to a shared album from Photo on Mac

I don't understand how to access or use shared albums on my Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7

I have Photo preferences checked as follows:

I have a shared album called Family, for Family snaps. I can add images to it from my iPhone, but not from the Mac.

If I open an image in Photo on the Mac, and select Add to Shared Album, I can only create a new album, not see the existing Family album:

Nor can I see the shared album in the sidebar:

What am I missing here?

It's alright, I've worked it out. I realised that the problem lay with my Apple ID. I have a second apple ID that I hardly ever use, and for some reason I had used it to set up that particular library.

Hi

The album creator/inviter will need to set the album to "subscribers can post"

For the family album this needs to be done by the person who set up the family group:

Are you using the same iCloud Apple ID on your Mac as on your iPhone?

Did you create the album “Family” or is it the “Family” Album created by Family Sharing?
