Battery not being detected after new battery installed

I've replaced the battery in my macbook Pro mid 2017 A1708, when I turn on the system (without power connected) I get a battery icon showing it's not charging, I plugged power/charging cable back in, and it will start up, then I went into the "system report", under "power" in the "battery info" there is no information, other than "0", and "no", so, from there I rebooted the system while holding down the "D" key, ran a diagnostic, and came up with an Erroe code: PPT001, which basically says there's no batter. So, I tried a Power Recycle, nothing, then I reset the PRAM, again; nothing, next I reset the SMC, and still nothing, so I'm at a loss as to why my system is not recognizing my new battery, could it possibly be the small battery cable (part number: 821-00614-A) that's bad? The laptop works perfect with the power cable, but as soon as you unplug it, it will shut off. I can live with using it with the power plugged in all the time, but, if I want to sell it, I'd like the battery to be working, any help would be appreciated.

Well it could be a bad 'new' battery

you could try replacing the cable

you can verify all connections are snug and in place

you can try resetting the SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
